The aim is to boost Vietnam\u2019s regional competitiveness and attract more international tourists and investors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"560\" data-end=\"609\">The proposed program includes three visa options:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"611\" data-end=\"828\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"611\" data-end=\"640\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"613\" data-end=\"640\"><strong data-start=\"613\" data-end=\"638\">A 10-year Golden Visa<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"641\" data-end=\"763\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"643\" data-end=\"763\"><strong data-start=\"643\" data-end=\"670\">A 10-year investor visa<\/strong>, with eligibility for permanent residency after five years if the investment is maintained<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"764\" data-end=\"828\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"766\" data-end=\"828\"><strong data-start=\"766\" data-end=\"790\">A 5-year talent visa<\/strong>, with simplified renewal procedures<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"830\" data-end=\"946\">These visas are expected to be piloted in major tourism hubs such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"948\" data-end=\"1292\">Unlike the current DT-class investor visas\u2014which require capital contributions ranging from <strong data-start=\"1040\" data-end=\"1076\">VND 3 billion to VND 100 billion<\/strong> (approx. USD 120,000 to USD 4 million) and require investors to <strong data-start=\"1141\" data-end=\"1182\">actively manage a business in Vietnam<\/strong>\u2014the Golden Visa would allow for <strong data-start=\"1215\" data-end=\"1237\">passive investment<\/strong>, offering greater flexibility for long-term residents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1294\" data-end=\"1570\">Meanwhile, regional peers such as Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia have already launched investment-based long-term visa programs. This proposal is seen as a strategic move to help Vietnam catch up and strengthen its position as a welcoming, globally competitive destination.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1572\" data-end=\"1810\">Prime Minister Chinh has also instructed relevant ministries to expand visa exemptions, particularly for citizens of <strong data-start=\"1689\" data-end=\"1735\">Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America<\/strong>. Currently, Vietnam has extended visa waivers for 12 countries until 2028.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1812\" data-end=\"2264\">Under existing rules, foreigners must legally reside in Vietnam for at least <strong data-start=\"1889\" data-end=\"1904\">three years<\/strong> to apply for permanent residency. Those seeking citizenship must reside for <strong data-start=\"1981\" data-end=\"2009\">an additional five years<\/strong>, be proficient in Vietnamese, and renounce their original nationality. If approved, the Golden Visa program would offer a <strong data-start=\"2132\" data-end=\"2188\">simpler, more accessible path to long-term residency<\/strong>\u2014one that aligns with global mobility trends and international expectations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2266\" data-end=\"2694\">In fact, <strong data-start=\"2275\" data-end=\"2350\">Golden Visas have become a popular investment migration model worldwide<\/strong>, especially across Europe and Southeast Asia.
