Mrs. Jaddou is considered a very suitable candidate
Immediately after Jaddou’s inauguration, US Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS) Alejandro Mayorkas congratulated her and thanked the Senate for choosing her. The DHS secretary also said, “Mrs. Jaddou will administer the US immigration system with fairness and integrity.”
Mrs. Ur M. Jaddou has an Iraqi father and a Mexican mother. She graduated with a Doctor of Laws from UCLA Law School. Ând has many years of experience working in the legal, and immigration fields. Prior to her nomination as USCIS Director, Jaddou served as Chief of Majority Counsel for the U.S. House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship, General Counsel for USCIS And as director of DHS Watch, an advocacy group dedicated to maintaining “a competently managed immigration system.”
Previously, despite opposition from Republicans, Mrs. Jaddou was still evaluated as the leading candidate for the position. Former USCIS Director Leon Rodriguez has called Jaddou “the most well-prepared candidate in the agency’s history,”. And Senate Judiciary Chairman Richard J. Durbin said about Jaddou “could be the person who is most qualified ever nominated for this position.”
The Biden Administration’s View
Ms. Jaddou’s experience will certainly be helpful in the administration of USCIS and she is expected to be the one to get USCIS back on track. Jaddou is also a pro-immigration advocate with President Joe Biden.
In recent years, USCIS has struggled to manage the growing number of visa applications, resulting in a large backlog of pending cases. EB-5 investors everywhere want these issues resolved and Jaddou’s appointment is certainly a step in the right direction.
